On the way to the Northest point of Finland (Roadtrip Finland)

The night in Kemijärvi was rainy and very windy. When we woke up it was still raining, but the wind had calmed down a little bit. We tried to dry our tents and equipment as well as we could, but we still had to pack partially wet equipment to our car.

Our original plan of the day was to drive to Kiilopää 1791ft (546m) and climb up the fell, but the weather condition were so bad, that we did not want to repeat the mistake we did in Monadnok NH. So we decided to drive the whole day all the way to Nuorgam the northest point in Finland. Along the way we stopped at Sodankylä and visited the pizza place where Anne and Kaj had good pizza over 15 years ago. We stopped at the top of Kaunispää fell for coffee, hot chocolate and sugar donuts. The whole trip was topped for the boys by super cars parked infront of a store in Saariselkä. McLaren, Ferrari, Ford Mustang and an Audi. The boys can tell you the exact models. We even drove with some of them all the way to the Näätämö junction.

We arrived to Utsjoki and turned towards Nuorgam just before the Norwegian border. Anne was able to find the Vetsikon leirintämökit campsite just outside of Utsjoki. So we stopped to put up our camp, before driving to Nuorgam and visiting the northest grocery store in Finland. We bought dinner supplies, took pictures and drove back to the campsite to grill sausages and meat pies. The majority of the campsite customers were fishermen who were sport fishing on the Teno river, so we got the opportunity to admire a gentlemans 29 lbs (13,5kg) salmon which he had just caught. The evening ended again by playing Uno beside the fire.
